Our Board of Directors

Dr. Christine Puskaric

Chair

Second Story’s founder, Christine Puskaric completed an undergraduate degree in Zoology with minors in Chemistry and English from Louisiana State University in 1995. She then went on to graduate with distinction from Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2001.

After veterinary school, Dr. Puskaric returned to her native Connecticut and worked as a small animal veterinarian both in private practice and for non-profit organizations for 11 years before opening her own veterinary hospital in 2012.

In 2018, Dr. Puskaric, sold her business to move to TN for her dream job. She was looking forward to this new chapter in her life, but she wasn’t prepared for the prevalence of homeless individuals and families on the streets in Middle Tennessee. She created Second Story to end the cycle of family and foster homelessness.

Dr. Puskaric has a particular interest in utilizing therapy animals to aid in the healing of foster children and young adults aging out of the foster system.
